What this is
The Steward's Post is a Texas-focused daily news edition. You tell us, in your own words, what you want to follow. Each day we build you one small, finite set of stories drawn from Texas newsrooms — not an endless feed, not an algorithm guessing what keeps you scrolling. When you reach the end, that's it. The edition closes with a simple line: That's today.
That's the whole product. Everything else on this page is why we built it this way.
A steward, not an owner
A steward tends something valuable on behalf of the person who actually owns it. They don't claim it, rewrite it, or dress it up as their own — they care for it and hand it to the right person at the right time.
That's the relationship we want with the newsrooms whose work you'll find here, and with you. Your reading habits, your brief, and your data are yours. We don't sell them, mine them for ads, or use them for anything beyond building your next edition. The journalism you read is the reporter's and the newsroom's — we display it, credit it, and link you back to where it came from. We don't own any of it.
Why finite
Most news products want you to stay. Ours is built to end. A daily edition that closes tells you two things at once: you're caught up, and we're not trying to keep you here longer than the news itself warrants. Your morning has a shape. So does the edition.
Why Texas
Because a regional, curated edition is a real product worth building well — and because Texas journalism, in particular, deserves a distributor that treats it with some respect instead of strip-mining it for engagement. We're not trying to be the whole internet. We're trying to be a well-tended shelf of Texas news.
Who we are
The Steward's Post is built by two founders based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. We started this because the way news gets bundled and distributed today felt extractive — toward the newsrooms that make it, and toward readers who just want to know what's happening without being trained to doomscroll to find out. We wanted to build the version that isn't.

Is this free?
Today's edition — the one you're reading — is free: openly available Texas news, linked back to its original source. We're building toward a paid tier that displays full articles in-app under license, with newsrooms paid directly when their work is read. More on that as it exists.
Where does my brief go?
Nowhere but here. It's used only to choose what's in your edition. You can read it, edit it, export it, or delete it any time from the Brief page.
Do you use my reading behavior to target ads?
No. We don't build a behavioral profile of you, and any advertising on the Post is never personalized, never tracked, and never keyed to what you read — a general page ad here looks the same to every reader, not shaped by your reading history. See the Privacy page for the specifics.
